Cataloger / Technical Services Librarian
time, 19 hours per week
Scale: Begins at $20.26/ per hour
Lisle Library District seeks a cataloging librarian for the Technical
Services department. Position available December 5, 2013.
original and copy cataloging of resources in multiple formats. Creates and
revises authority records. Assists in collection development through
coordination with selectors and catalogers to maintain material organization
and participates in project planning and execution. Reports to the Director
of Technical Services.
ideal candidate has:
knowledge of cataloging and bibliographic utilities including AACR2, MARC21,
and OCLC Databases including WorldCat and Connexion.
of and ability to implement new and developing standards, such as Resource
Description and Access (RDA).
with acquisitions and processing of library materials.
with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Director of Technical Services
This position is responsible for cataloging and classifying Library
materials, both print and nonprint. Assists
in the direction and maintenance of the Library catalog.
Requirements: Part or Full Time.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
MLS degree from an ALA accredited library science program;
service oriented experience
Knowledge of AACRII and/or RDA, full MARC format, Library of
Congress subject headings, Dewey Decimal Classification, and good cataloging
High level of fluency with traditional software and technology
and the ability to adapt to emerging technology.
Troubleshoot basic equipment and software problems, refer as
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with the public
and the staff.
Ability to set priorities, make independent decisions and

Have a valid driver’s license, current Illinois auto
insurance and reliable access to vehicle.
10. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, working at a computer terminal for long periods. Employee is also required to walk and stand with sufficient mobility to maneuver safely between workstations and answer the receiving door. Bending, stooping, climbing and pulling are required. The employee must be able to lift 30 pounds. This job is performed in a regular office environment, with some exposure to outside weather elements
