Front Street Teens

Author Crush!

Kelley Armstrong is the author of several teen and adult urban fantasies, thrillers, and romances which often have a paranormal or supernatural element. If you’re a fan of authors like Madeleine Roux, Laurie Faria Stolarz, or Ransom Riggs her books are sure to keep you reading!

The Summoning (TN ARM) is the first book in a creepy paranormal series about Chloe, who suddenly starts seeing ghosts. Of course the supernatural can’t possibly exist, so she’s diagnosed with schizophrenia and sent to live in a group home for other “troubled teens.” But even stranger things begin happening at Lyle house and she begins to discover that she’s not the only one with supernatural abilities. But some of the teens who are getting transferred out of Lyle House aren’t going back to live normal lives, they’re totally disappearing. Uncover the creepy mysteries of Lyle House in this suspenseful series!

In Sea of Shadows (TN ARM), follow twin sisters Ashyn and Moira, who were fated from birth to be the Keeper and Seeker of Edgewood, which is the most spiritually dangerous place in the empire. Their titles mean that they are to keep the restless souls in the Forest of the Dead quiet, but when they go to the forest for an annual ritual, things don’t quite go as planned and they are separated by an evil force. Accompanied only by their animal companions and a pair of boys, the twins must venture deep into the forest to get back to the empire and warn them of the coming danger.  This compelling and plot-driven story is the first book in the Age of Legends trilogy, so read on to find out how the empire deals with this paranormal threat!

Missing (TN ARM) is an compelling and suspenseful mystery about a string of missing teens that high schooler Winter is determined to get to the bottom of. Winter Crane wants to leave Reeve’s End and never come back. Living in a shack in the woods with her abusive father, she doesn’t see the point in staying any longer than she needs to, but when she rescues a boy, Lennon, from an attack, he claims to know something about a recently missing girl. Winter begins to wonder if the disappearances are connected, but as the attacker stalks them, they must rely on Winter’s survival skills and determination to uncover the truth. This is one of my personal favorite mysteries - it’s so intense that I finished it in one sitting!

Aftermath (TN ARM) is a sensitive and timely novel about the impact of school shootings on both the families of the perpetrators and victims. It’s a heavy topic, but Kelley Armstrong handles it with care through the eyes of 16 year old Skye, sister of a school shooter, who is returning to her hometown three years after the deadly event. In the fallout, her family life spiraled out of control, but now she’s moving back home to live with her aunt and attend school with classmates who were directly affected by her brother’s actions. She is shunned and bullied by the other students, but no one listens to her when she tells them what’s going on except Jesse, who has his own challenges with school bullies as well. The pair bond and comfort each other in an authentic and touching story. Bring tissues when you read this one! It’s heart wrenching, but so worth reading.
