Science Fiction Fantasy Blog

And this, from author Chuck Wendig about Brian McClellan

You know how I posted last month about author Chuck Wendig's inteview with Ramez Naam?     Well, Chuck apparently knows Brian McClellan, too (which means that our group is 2 for 2 now....).     I found an interview with Brian on Chuck's blog (which I will post about soon), but then I saw this: "BRIAN MCCLELLAN: HOW I CAME TO CREATE MY OWN EXPANDED UNIVERSE" on Chuck's blog.

Here's an excerpt --- but click on the link above to read the entire thing.
"A week ago I put out a new novella called Servant of the Crown. It’s the second novella and fifth piece of short fiction based off the world I created in the Powder Mage trilogy. That trilogy, starting with the novel Promise of Blood, is published by Orbit Books, the science fiction and fantasy imprint of Hachette. The short fiction is something I put out myself electronically.

This makes me a “hybrid” author. You may have heard the term. Our own friend Chuck Wendig has written about it for Writer’s Digest. In short, a hybrid author is someone who has fingers in both traditional and self-publishing. These kind of authors are becoming more and more common."

Excellent article about his efforts at self-publishing novellas to expand his universe of the powder mage trilogy. Thanks for posting. I don't suppose the library has access to digital copies of the novellas?
I'll have to check them out.

Hi!  I did check Overdrive, which is the company which supplies our e-media, and I don't see anything by Brian McClellan.   This kind of thing does happen, where publishers work out their own arrangements with Overdrive, and not every book is available.   However, I found that on Brian's website, there is more info on the books: http://www.brianmcclellan.com/all-books
